New York Jets

30 December 2008

This past Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys traveled to Lincoln Financial Field to play the Philadelphia Eagles in what was a win and you’re in the playoffs game.  This game had a lot of build-up prior kick-off.  The Eagles found out, about 15 minutes before the game started, that the stars had aligned for them; the Bears and Buccaneers had both lost.  This game had everything football fans wanted.  It was the ‘Boys against the Birds, with their playoff destinies on the line.

Louis 13.

Miami @ New York Jets:  The Miami Dolphins must win this game to capture the AFC East, because if they lose they are out of the playoffs completely.  The Dolphins have done an excellent job in putting together a competitive team in one season.  I’m not surprised though, as Parcells raided the Cowboys front office, coaching staff, and their roster, to get them in position for the playoffs!  The Jets must win as well, but that won’t guarantee anything, as they need some help (Patriots OR Ravens need to lose).  I like the Jets to win this game, but it will be close.

ou need balance!  Maybe next year?  Detroit…0-16 is in your future!

New York Jets @ Seattle:  (LOSS)  The Jets have been in somewhat of a slump the last few weeks.  After they beat the Titans, it seems as if they put the brakes on.  Maybe they started reading their own press clippings, and thought all they had to do was show up to win?  Not in the NFL, baby!  Favre has looked suspect during this lackluster stretch.  He has thrown many key INTs that I bet he would like back, but that’s Favre!  His greatness is what gets him in trouble at times.  They are still alive for a playoff spot, but they could have made things easier on themselves had the beat the lowly Seahawks.

ll you that they will be 0-15 after this contest.  New Orleans 27, Detroit 10.

New York Jets @ Seattle:  The Seahawks got a big win last week, but that was against the Rams.  This week they will play the Favre led Jets, and that, my friends, does not bode well for the ‘Hawks.  Brett should be able to pick apart the Seattle secondary, while Thomas Jones runs free all day.  The Jets need a victory to keep pace with Miami and New England.  It appears that only one of those three will qualify for the tournament.  In what could be Favre’s swan song season (it’s been that way for what seems a decade now), he won’t go down easily.

Each week, on Friday, I will look into my (never wrong, just misinformed) crystal ball and give my predictions for that weekend’s games.  I will always prognosticate on the Eagles and Cowboys games and then pick two or more games of interest (to me, that is, not necessarily to you).  Keep in mind, that this is for entertainment purposes only, and that I do not endorse any sort of legal or illegal gambling.  That being said…let’s see what’s in my crystal ball!

Another week is in the books in the National Football League as we head to Week 15. But first let's take a look back at the week that was...Week 14! (my tongue is getting twisted) Several surprising outcomes this past Sunday including a few of the games I picked. I went a disappointing 1-3 in my picks. Very poor performance on my part. I'm finally realizing I'll never have a grip on the NFL. It's the most inconsistent professional sport out there. Any team can lose on any given week. But enough sulking, let's get on to this week's Fallout Report!

ay......unfortunately for Texans fans.

Winners - Green Bay Packers

2) New York Jets @ San Francisco 49ers

The Jets were surprised at home by the Denver Broncos last Sunday. This week they fly into San Francisco to take on the 4-8 49ers. Jets are 0-2 in the West Coast this season (losses against San Diego and Oakland). I however have a feeling that Brett Favre and company will bounce back after last week. The AFC East is still up for grabs and I believe that the Jets will hang on to sole possession of first. The 49ers are not a good football team. So I'll go with the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets in this one. Ring it up.

Week 13 is in the books as we are getting closer to the playoffs in the National Football League (still 4 weeks away, but with the way this season has flown bye, it won't be long!). Before I begin I want to apologize to my 3 readers for not keeping up with the Fallout Report. I'll have it on time (every Tuesday) from now until the playoffs. With that said, let's see how I did!

Giants in this contest.

Winners - New York Giants

3) Denver Broncos @ New York Jets

I honestly didn't think the Jets could beat the Patriots and at the time undefeated Titans...back to back. But they proved me wrong. Brett Favre is playing great and the Broncos are 25th in pass defense this season. This has the makings of a 'light-em-up' type of game. Running back Leon Washington has also played good ball for the Jets during the winning streak. Broncos are 27th in run defense. What I'm trying to say is...the Jets could and should have a field day with the Broncos defense. Jets with a win could push their record to an impressive 9-3 in the AFC East division possibly giving them more cushion if the Patriots lose to the Steelers. I'll take the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets in this game.

didn’t fare much better, as Baltimore ran away with this one in the 2nd half.

New York Jets @ Tennessee:  The mighty have fallen…just as I had predicted.  Favre was tremendous in this game, but the Jets defense held the Titans in check.  It took Favre and his new buddies about a month to get used to each other, but now they are hitting on all cylinders.  With Thomas Jones and Leon Washington leading the way on the ground, Favre’s aerial attack, and the defense playing well, the Jets are the team to beat in the AFC!

There are a lot of conflicting opinions on the crisis of climate change. The phenomenon of global warming is a very touchy subject with special interest groups and public interest groups alike. There is one special party that I see benefiting greatly from climate change and his name is Chad Pennington.

A week filled with late game nervousness and dominant performances. The Texans were the ones doing the prowling as they tore apart the Bengals. 'America's Team' didn't look so sharp, but they found a way to win. The NFL brought a real shootout to London (hopefully no one was hurt!) and Brett Favre didn't look good for the second consecutive week, but thankfully for the Jets, they played the Chiefs. I'll cover those games in this week's Fallout report!

Tyler Thigpen played his heart out Sunday.  I was frantically dialing all my friends on my cell phone to see if anyone else was watching the spectacle that Thigpen was making of the Jets defense.  Of course only one friend picked up the phone and his response was "no I don't watch that joke of a team".

pick San Diego.

Winners - San Diego Chargers

2) Kansas City Chiefs @ New York Jets

Jets are coming off an overtime loss to the Raiders last Sunday in which the offense had the ball 3 times in the extra quarter, but still could not muster any points. Brett Favre did not look good and was in the news this week with the whole Matt Millen Lions/Packers play-scheme swap accusation in which Favre denied. If I were the Jets I would want my quarterback to be in the news for practicing and game-planning for the Chiefs for Sunday. Speaking of the Chiefs, KC lost both their starter and back up quarterbacks last week. So third stringer Tyler Thigpen will get the start for the 1-5 Chiefs. Larry Johnson will not be available due to the on-going investigation following a Oct. 10 night club incident, in which Johnson allegedly told a woman he was going to kill her boyfriend then spat in her face. Not much good going on with the Chiefs. I'll take the Jets in this one.

Week 7 is officially in the books as Tuesday, the 21st of October rolls around today. This week's Fallout report will cover the most interesting games from the week 7 slate in the National Football League. The alarm is going off in Big D as the Cowboys struggle for the second week in a row to find a win, the Vikings put up 41 in a loss, and Brett Farve gets the ball three times in overtime against the struggling Raiders, but can't chip any points in. I'll cover those happenings....right now!

NFC East

Week 6

Hello East Fans,

Well after a week of Hiatus to curse the football gods for my team’s embarrassing losses. I felt a preview of the Best division in Football was the only way to quench the thirst. Every team in the division except for Washington is on the road, let’s start with the leaders of the pack.

Kellen Clemens never saw him. When the young quarterback dropped back in the pocket with six minutes left in the second quarter, he thought he had Jerricho Cotchery open on an out route. With little hesitation, he gunned the ball in the direction of his top receiver and watched it go for six. Unfortunately, for Clemens and Jets fans, those six points belonged to the opposing team, the Dallas Cowboys. Cornerback Terence Newman easily undercut the route and used his world-class speed to return the pass 50 yards down the sideline for his first touchdown of the season. Broken and overmatched, the Jets would lose the contest 34-3.

The Crying Game

The Terrell Owens story

Hello NFL fans,

Well here we are, week four of the third year with his last team. This will be his last team, I truly believe that. If I were an owner I would rather get a letter full of anthrax and then imprisoned IN Cuba to spend the rest of my days. The continuous onslaught of reporters and fans condemning my name and wanting my head on a stick would be too much for me to bare.

Believe. Believe. It’s the one word in sports that says so much but says so little. You’ve seen signs in every NFL stadium at some point with this simple word. ”Believe.” When MLB baseball approaches the postseason every year, the word reappears. “Believe.” But believe in what I ask you? Do the Chicago Cubs “believe” that they will win a World Championship? Or do they “believe” that some strange twist of fate will ruin another promising season. What does your team “believe” in?

What better way to start my life as a sports blogger than this. It is my opening post, yet more importantly to the sports fan it is Pro Football Eve!!! That's right.  Football is back and the 5 month holiday is "The Most wonderful Time of the Year", but only some of us will get presents. Santa Coughlin may be in the giving mood again. It is more likely however,  that Giselle will lead the Patriot fans in a Marilyn Monroe inspired "Santa Bra-dy", asking for that "one thing, a ring".
